Gurgaon PG deposit Recovery of 10k Rupees

I had rented a PG 1RK room in gurgaon and paid a deposit of 13k. now the manager of local PG doesn't want to pay as hes refusing to respond to my messages. There was no lease agreement as it was mutually agreed for 2 months, i have all the digital records and photographs I am wondering if its worth fighting for 10k Rupees given the legal cost as well.

Since you have digital payment proof, chats, and photographs, you do have evidence even without a written lease agreement. First send a formal legal notice demanding return of the security deposit within a fixed time. In many cases, landlords/PG managers respond once they receive a notice from an advocate. For an amount around ₹10k–13k, filing a full civil case may not be cost-effective, but you can still pursue recovery through a legal notice and a police complaint for cheating/criminal breach of trust if he is intentionally avoiding you. Keep all screenshots, payment receipts, and call/message records safely. Often these matters get settled after legal pressure without going to court.

Apologies. We aren’t able to understand the query well. Is it the case that manager is not returning the security deposit? Or that he’s not adjusting it? In any way, a legal notice can be sent at a minimal cost to see how they respond and basis the same, next steps can be decided (keeping the amount in mind).
