Friend is not repaying the amount taken through online transfer

Hi Sir, My friend (Chowdary) had asked me help for his wife's cancer treatment. That time I don't have money. So I borrowed 4 lacs (4,00,000) from another friend A. He has transferred the amount directly to Chowdary's account on 30th Jan, 2015. I have repaid the whole amount to Ajith in June 2015. There is no other document other than online transfer receipt. Now, that guy is not returning my money and not even answering my phone calls. Can I take any legal action against him? Can you please let me know what other ways of taking action against him?
First all you need to have proper documents explaining the transaction between you and your friend. If any such documents exists then file a suit for recovery against him. If such document is not their, ask any lawyer to simply send a legal notice to your friend asking to refund the money, if he replies to such notice and still does not return the money, then, based on his reply to your legal notice you can file the suit.
