If you have written proof or bank records: You can issue a legal notice demanding repayment of the principal along with agreed interest (or at least reasonable interest, since you borrowed from the bank and are incurring liability). If he fails, you can file a civil recovery suit in the appropriate court. Interest can be claimed either as per agreement or as “reasonable interest” since you are suffering financial burden. If you lack a formal agreement: Even then, if the transfer was through banking channels (NEFT/RTGS/cheque/UPI), you can prove the loan. Courts accept such evidence, and his part payment of ₹1 lakh also strengthens your case. You can also send him a demand notice and later initiate civil proceedings. If the money was advanced through a cheque or he gave you cheques that bounced, you can proceed under cheque bounce law. Otherwise, you may still allege cheating if there was dishonest intention from the start, but courts usually treat it as a civil recovery matter unless fraud is clear. Send him a legal notice immediately through a lawyer demanding repayment (with proof of your bank liability). If he refuses, file a money recovery suit. Courts will generally not allow him to escape with only the principal if you can show you borrowed on interest and suffered loss.

if you are fine with the amount which say he is giving you you can just settle this matter and take your principal amount and leave it here, if you want interest and you have any proper agreement with him you can file money recovery suit for interest, competition for delayed payment and interest.
