Can a pg owner keep lockin period equal to the whole lease period in a rent agreement ? In my case pg owner kept lovkin period of 11 months in a rent agreement of 11 months..there is no clause of notice period...Can't I vacate before 11 months and get my security money back ?nThe pg owner is denying to refund the security deposit if I vacate before 11 months..Isn't it injustice..that I am not given any option to vacate before complete rent agreement period

The lock-in period can't be equal to the whole lease period. And there's always a notice period given to both the parties if they choose to vacate the property. First of all rather than going legally you should serve him/her a legal notice and in that notice you can write to either return your money back or face legal action which will be at your own risk. If you are above 18 and you have signed on that 11 month locking period then everything will go according to that agreement. You should have escalated these issues before signing the agreement. Pg owner is entitled to recover or forfeit your security amount if u leave the accommodation before locking period. Yes Pg owner can put this condition of 11 months locking period, u shouldn’t have this accommodation if u were not comfortable with such clause. Would recommend you to talk to owner with reducer & politely. On social grounds he may help you.
