Bank asking ₹50,000 despite issuing loan closure certificate

26-Aug-2025 (In Recovery Law)
My father repaid his housing loan in full at Housing Finance, Thrissur. We received a loan closure/No Dues certificate, and the branch assured us the property deed would be returned in a week. Now they are demanding ₹50,000 extra to release the deed. Is this legal? What steps can we take (RBI Ombudsman, Legal Services Authority, or Consumer Court) to get our documents back without paying?

you can file a criminal case and consumer case against the said bank demanding them to return the original deeds. a banking institution cannot retain original documents after the closure of loan and the same amounts to unfair trade practise
