what can i do if a fake owner sold Agricultural land to me

My brother bought an agricultural land couple of days back from a seller through a Online Sale Deed processed in Tehsil in front of Registrar and Advocate. When he went to Tehsil to complete the mutation at that point of time, patwari (govt official) told him that he is a fake seller, he is not the owner of the land whereas his grand father is owner of the land. It has happened because of the mediator's fraud. What kind of legal proceedings like Type of Case can be done against the fake seller and the mediator. Also want to know the role of witness who was available at the time of sale deed.

FILE A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT BEFORE THE CONCERNED POLICE STATION UNDER SEC 420/467/471 IPC .

FILE A SUIT FOR RECOVERY BEFORE THE CIVIL COURT HAVING JURISDICTION
FILE THE COMPLAINT MAKING THE WITNESS A PARTY.
IF THE POLICE DOES NOT TAKE ANY ACTION FILE 156(3) CR.P.C BEFORE THE LD. MAGISTRATE OF YOUR POLICE STATION HAVING JURISDICTION TO TRY YOUR CASE
