Sir, with all due respect, it doesn't come under the jurisdiction of police department to look into the property matters as it is civil in nature. Even if the police is doing it's so called investigation, you don't need to worry about it as it can't take any action against you for removal of any article lying inside. If you are having apprehension that the police officials will enter your premises, you need to immediately hire an advocate who will file an appropriate petition in civil court to take a stay order restricting the police to enter your property.

Sir, considering your facts the only option available to you is to peacefully ask the investigation officer (IO) to update you on the issue. However, if you urgently want to know the status contact an advocate he will approach the concerned IO about your issue. If you need help in representation or otherwise, feel free to contact me.

In cases like this, where a family member has filed a complaint and the matter is related to property dispute, police usually take time to verify the documents and statements from both sides. Since you’ve already submitted your property papers and they’ve informed you that verification will take a few more days, it’s best to follow up politely at the concerned police station after the said time. You or any family member can visit the police station and speak to the Investigating Officer (IO) handling your case. Ask them about the current status of the complaint and whether they need any additional documents or clarification from your side. You have the right to ask about the investigation progress, especially when you are cooperating with them. Also, keep a copy of the documents you submitted and if possible, take a simple written acknowledgment from the police for your records. If things still don’t move after a reasonable time, you can also approach a lawyer to help you write a formal representation or even file an RTI to get written updates on the complaint status. If needed, feel free to consult me further. I can guide you step-by-step depending on how the case proceeds.
