To get my advance back from the house owner

It's been over a month since I vacated my rented house but the owner refuses to return my advance and says he will give me very little. I am now at his house. I'm SC caste
Let’s get into the specifics of the subject matter. What was the rent that was discussed? Was there any rental agreement in place apart from which what was the advance amount that has been already paid? How much days per months or years you have stayed in the particular property is the property having any form of Damage because of your usage is any painting required as we need to discuss all these aspects before discussing the next step that can be taken by you against your previous landlord.
