Threatening by neighbor for coconut falling in his backyard

Sir/Madam, We have a coconut tree in our backyard and sometimes coconut falls in our neighbor's backyard. We offered to clean his backyard in these cases. But he is insisting us to cut our tree, his police friend calls my father and threatens us. Please advice what steps can be taken. Thanks in advance. Kind Regards, MR
You can have a coconut tree in your backyard but it should not lean over your neighbors land and create problems. In such a situation the neighbor can a lodge complaint with the local authorities and they may ask you to cut the tree and if the tree causes physical hurt you are liable for damages. You can trim the tree by cutting the leaves and put iron mash to prevent the coconut falling on human beings.

Better cut the branch which is protruding in your neighbor's place. You can change your friends but not neighbours. Hence in the interest of peaceful living and avoid bitter feelings the only solution is to cut the branch or branches.
