Should car parking charges be same for all categories in a society?
08-Nov-2023 (In Property Law)
We recently bought a property and the society is charging for parking. We have paid an amount to the developer for this parking area which was included in the flat cost. The parking is a garage parking which is half covered on top though we have a small size car. The rest of the parkings in the society are podium which access lift or are stack. The society is charging 300 per month as parking charges. We asked them to reduce these for us as their is no maintenance since we neither use the lift or the stack. But they are adamant and compelling us to pay. Please let me know if we need to pay these or there is anything that can be done about it?
What you have paid to the builder is for parking place. But what society is charging is maintenance which includes property tax as well. So irrespective whether you are using lift or stack, you have to pay this charges except in general meeting if the members proposes and approves to reduce car parking charges for the members in similar situation as yours. Otherwise you have to pay the charges.
