Selling a property co-owned by my mother

25-Aug-2023 (In Property Law)
Hello, Background: I am selling a property which is co-owned by my mother. The property is in a different city than we are currently living in. I know that in order to sell this property, she also needs to go to the registrar office for registry (in favor of the new buyer). My question: Is there a way (power of attorney or something similar) by which she doesn't have to go for the registration and what would be the charges (stamp duty etc.) for getting such legal documentation?

if she is not in position to go every where to execute sale deed. she can execute a power of attorney expressing her intent to authorize power of attorney to execute sale deed on her behalf giving full particulars of the properties. This power of attorney shall be registered with sub registrar of the place where executed. its tenure shall be up to one year. two witnesses shall also be required.

As per your query It is Suggested that you can go for the power of attorney as power of attorney in blood relation for the sale of property can be done and the expenses will be 1000 stamp duty and 1000 rs Registration .

Yes, one can approach to the place of property with power of attorney of your mother. But stamp duty of power of attorney varies from place to place because it carries local acts ie of state.
By the way in MP local acts there are provisions of 1%of the property value, stamp duty is to be paid to get the power of attorney, but in UP its not the case.
These POA documents you can prepare from where your mother resides so she has not required to travel for the purpose of registeree.
