Request for Legal Advice on Disputed Ancestral Land Ownership from1977
26-Jun-2025 (In Property Law)
My great-grandfather Russo owned some of land. After his death, it went to his wife Leena, his brother, and two cousins. Leena later adopted a son, Garrison, and transferred her share to him. Garrison’s name was on records till his death(1977). As the land was co-owned by the brotherhood, his share was taken over by the extended family. They sold and divided the land among their heirs without informing Garrison’s family.
Based on the facts, if Garrison inherited the share from Leena and his name was reflected in the land records till his death in 1977, his legal heirs may still have a rightful claim over that portion of land. If the extended family sold or divided the property without consent or legal transfer from Garrison’s legal heirs, it could amount to unauthorised transfer or even property fraud.
To explore possible legal remedies — including claiming your rightful share or challenging past transfers — further document review will be required. Feel free to get in touch if you’d like help with the next steps.
