Procedure to change khata of land

My land is in Rural district and it is a agricultural land, we have decided to distribute our land with ourselves through the partition deed. But the problem is government official says that the water canal(Government Canal) has been pulled across a land.so how to change Khata. Please suggest me.
If you have to divide the property take a sketch copy of lanf findout where the canal is coming in the land, exculding the canal area you can execute the partition among the family members. If you dont have skecth of land take it from the survey officer.
