power of attorney given by one person in a jointly owned property

16-Jul-2023 (In Property Law)
A property located in the heart of Chennai city is jointly owned by my father and uncle. My father expired six months back. My brother who is residing in US wants to give me a power of attorney and my uncle wants to sell the property. Can the property be sold with my brother alone conferring me a POA.The joint owners after my father's death are me, mother, brother and uncle. Must the revenue records of the said property be transferred in our names to work on the power of attorney and consequent sale.

Your brother can very well execute Power of Attorney in your favour by specifically mentioning its purpose. Then you all can proceed to sell the property. There's no need to transfer the property in your names.
