Partition as I wanted to claim share in my father's property

My father died 1 month ago. I wanted to claim share in my father's property. I have one step mother and she has two sons. father didn't had any will. How to proceed ?
Pls provide the following details
1. Which religion do you profess?
2. What type of property is it? Land, building or flat?
3. Whether it was self acquired or it is ancestral.
4. you are the son of first wife of your father or the second wife.
5. Are his both wives alive.

You Will have to file partition suit in court.

Also properties are in possession of which party and being used or unused ??
