Ownership and transferability of inherited property

12-Aug-2023 (In Property Law)
My grandfather owned a joint flat. He stated in his will that one flat is of my grandmother and the other flat is of my father. My grandmother has added 2nd name in the flat of her daughter. The 2nd name in my fathers flat is of my grandmother. So is my father the owner of the flat and does 2nd name in a flat matter? After my fathers death, whom will the flat belong to? My grandmother or my mother? please solve my query.

This is my response to you:
1. The second name of the flat does matter;
2. The second owner along with the first owner becomes joint owners of the flat;
3. After the death of your father the flat will belong to Class I legal heirs as per Hindu Succession Act;
4. Therefore consult a local lawyer and show your documents etc.
