is mutation necessary for a residential plot within municipal limit purchased from an individual by a proprietorship firm The proprietorship firm has not done mutation in its name, is it compulsory

mutation is compulsory. mutation is the proceedure to update your name in land record . sale deed itself does not update your name in land record. and only on the basis of sale deed you can not claim your ownership.
