Landlord is Mandating post dated cheque or to vacate home

I have rented out a flat month ago. Just before completion of one month, agent/ landlord is mandating me to submit postdated cheques for a period of whole year, or to empty the premises. If required to vacate house, I'LL incur losses due to paid brokerage and shifting expenses. What should I do now?
It is tradition of receiving cheque in Cities now.But what is difficulty to you for not giving post dated cheques.You can fill cheque with amount dates.and deliver them if you want to reside.If you have registered agreement of rent. Then in the sense of Law it is not required to deliver post dated cheques.

1. You can give post dated cheques;
2. You can also make a record of this in the rent agreement;
3. You can also sign an affidavit stating that the landlord can only encash the cheque in the first week or second week or as per your comfort;
4. Consult a local lawyer and take steps.
