Increased Noise Levels by Kids in society common area after 10 pm

01-Mar-2025 (In Property Law)
Sir, I'm living in a cooperative housing society. Everyday post 10pm few parents bring their kids to the common area and allow them to play until 11pm. Being kids they run around and make noise as long as the parents keep them, this is causing nuisance to me and my family on a daily basis. Even after repeated personal talks the parents do not seem to understand. I have contacted the society chairman but it is of no use. Living in the first floor our peace is at stake due to this. Please advice.

You can file a formal complaint with the housing society under its bylaws. If no action is taken, escalate the matter by sending a legal notice. If the issue persists, file a complaint under public nuisance laws with local authorities or approach the cooperative court for enforcement of noise regulations.

You must in writing address your grievance to the society i.e. the managing committee first. If the situation persists then you can address the said grievance to the Registrar of cooperative societies. Feel free to contact me for seeking any legal advice/assistance as regards the same.
