How many times can Supreme Court give extensions to a tenant

12-Aug-2023 (In Property Law)
After 10 years of court case in different courts the Chennai high court gave verdict in our favor but tenant went to Supreme Court. Luckily Supreme Court accepted our Caveat petition and refused to entertain tenant's case. He asked for 3 months and he got the 3 months ; at the end of 3rd month he petitioned supreme court for another 3 months giving reasons of religious nature and his age (he is a senior citizen). Court granted that extension. How many times can he keep doing this., Is there anything like a caveat to stop him from getting extension after extension for any reason. Please advise.

The matter is still pending in the court and it is better you consult your lawyer . He knows the details of the case and ask him to take the necessary steps so that the matter will not get prolonged further.

You cannot question the court's action. However, please instruct your learned counsel to oppose the tenant's request for any further extension vehemently on the grounds of wanton dilatory tactics with a view to denying you timely justice, when the case is heard next time.

In certain grounds the honorable court may have certain time but it had a certain limits. So I advise you to contact your lawyer and ask him to file objection by explaining the merits of your case and difficult faced by you due to the extensions of time.
