How can one get to know the real owner of property

How to I know who is legal owner or occupier of holding no. 294/1, G.T Road, shibpur,Howrah 711102 .we are living there more than 40 years. Land was thika tanency. But one who purchased by the occupier and show us the parcha of his name, tax bill, khajana receipt etc.they intend to multi stories building, could you please let me know to whom I have to sign the agreement for develop the building. I don't know who is real owner or occupier yet. May be fake documents. Please suggest.
You should contact Howrah municipality corporation and local Block land and land revenue office for know the truth . For this purpose you may local legal practitioner he may help you. you may obtain information from there .

u have to search the registry dept. thika tenant office and documents which are shown to u. after all proper search n satisfaction provided all r right then u can proceeed for sign else not. full advice can be given after looking all relevant documents

You can get title deeds checked through a an advocate in case of any doubt. Secondly if you think that there are more than one party with rights over the property than it is best to enter a multi-party agreement wherein all rightholders are made parties with duties and obligations.
