03-Dec-2023 (In Property Law)
My housing society forcing residents to download an third party app in the smartphone in the name of security control. This app asks to upload photos, access to phone numbers etc. I am not intrested in using this app. Can housing society force me to download the app against my wish and disallow me and my family to use amenities and entry to the complex if I donot share pass code with security at every point?

If the other residents have given their consent to app and if confidentiality is maintained then you can go ahead and the housing society have no authority in disrupting your water connections for your dissent for app.

The society cannot force you to download an app which you suspect to be a security risk in itself. First, check whether this decision of the management was taken in any AGM or a Board resolution. If it is just a Board resolution you can educate other members also in this regard. Finally, you can refuse to do as they tell and wait to see what happens. They cannot cause any problem to you.
