beside General power of Attorney, you must have also executed agreement to sell, possession certificate etc. if yes, then, it amounts to complete sell of the property. the buyer cannot file any case against you, not at lease the criminal one. However, you can assist him in claiming the amount of compensation from the Government agency by filing the claim in your name as you being the person recorded as owner in the records can only b paid the amount of compensation.

Please tell the following details:-

1. Whether you are having registered GPA?
2. Whether the GPA has been cancelled or it still exists?

As of now if the compensation has not been made then you should get the property transferred using the registered GPA.
