First of all, the most important question is that are you the sole legal heir. In case, their other legal heirs of your father who can claim their share, then in such case you need to have a relinquishment deed signed from each of them. However, if you are the sole legal heir then you will have to obtain legal heir certificate from the concerned authority/ government department in your area. Also, the death certificate your father would be required. Further, after obtaining the requisite documents, you will have to approach the Municipal authorities for mutation of records in your favour in relation the property. If there are no legal heirs and no will has been executed by the father, the daughter will automatically become owner by way of succession. She may file an application before SDM for Mutation of ownership alongwith Affidavit stating that she is the legal heir of the deceased.
