Did I breach confidentiality agreement

28-Mar-2025 (In Property Law)
Tenant was given possession without my consent. I heard after 2 months from a third-party. I agreed to keep confidential the info and file complaint to evict tenant. After I file complaint, the third-party make friend with defendant and he pretend he not disclose any info to me. The judge ask me who gave me confidential info and so I disclose my source. Now third-party person say he going to file complaint against me. He say I violated confidential agreement between us. Does he have valid case?

If there was a legally binding confidentiality agreement between you and the third party, and you disclosed their identity without permission, they may have grounds for a claim. However, if you were compelled by a court to reveal the source, your disclosure may be justified. The validity of their complaint will depend on the terms of the confidentiality agreement and whether any legal exceptions apply. You may need legal assistance to contest such a claim. If the third party has acted dishonestly by siding with the defendant, it may also weaken their position.

Dear Client Please mention the Agreement that had set out the right and liabilities of the parties who were privy to the contract. Confidentiality arises from a contract between parties. However, the same has its own exceptions that would depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss. Regards.

Just to understand- did the property belong to you? Confidentiality would be relevant on a case to case basis which would be determined by the role of the parties and the context in which this information was shared. Please feel free to contact us with all details to get tailored legal advice.
