check the land registration documents
07-Sep-2023 (In Property Law)
We brought land and registered legally. Got patta and changed land tax etc. However someone claiming land as legal ancestry by showing very old house tax paid receipt to municipality.
When a house is built, tax is levied on that irrespective of the year by which the construction was over. It's happening for a very long period... may be from the year when people settled as a society. Hence a house that was owned by someone could become the property of some other a few years later. Having the possession of an old house tax receipt by someone don't change your ownership now. If you want to clarify the title of yours I can help you with that. But don't get panicked.
