Can the mistress or her child if any claim share in the property

13-Sep-2023 (In Property Law)
My father has a mistress since 25 yrs, who works in his company. Not sure if they have any children. In case there is a Will or no Will, can the mistress claim share in his properties. I am his only legal daughter from his legal marriage with whom he has been living through out the time.

Dear queriest, as per your query you have mentioned about the fact that your father has a mistress and whether she has a right to claim or not, here I would suggest that there is no right to claim to the mistress unless your father has made any will for her, for more information in detail kindly contact me.

Well, if your Father creates a Will in her favor or transfer certain Properties by the way of Gift Deed, then his Illegitimate Mistress will get Properties which you ought to shall have received if she shall not have been in existence. Will takes effect after the Death of the person making Will, Whereas Properties transferred through Gift Deed takes impact during the lifetime of Donor and Donee.
