Can married daughter claim her share in father's property?

We are Hindu and four brothers and one sister. Father has died in the year 1998.Sister's marriage done before father's death.An agriculture land which was maintained and cultivated by four brothers since father's death.Our mother passed away in the year 2006. One purchaser came to buy the said land. Our married sister demands one-fifths of the sales proceeds.Does she claim her equal share?

It depends which school you are from as per Hindu law.whether your father leaving a will?without knowing this things it is not possible to give the answer.you please contact us so that we can clear your confusion

Yes your sister can claim the property as the Hindu succession act (amended) 2005 has given equal right to every one to get their parents or father's property, her demand is justified and legal, she is legally entitled to get her 1/5 th share of your father's property.
