Can I get my land from tenant who became owner of agricultural land

23-Apr-2023 (In Property Law)
Hi, My ancestor had a agriculture land and Since when my father was a kid(around 6 yrs) my grandfather died in 1962/63 and there was no one to take care of the land as grandmother was not aware of all these things , the farmer who was cultivating the land took the land as part of tenancy act and the land was never transferred to us.We were not aware that we had such property and we came to know by some sources now. Can we get the land back as our family is not owning any single piece of agriculture land now. Is there a provision in the law that we can file case in this scenario and get the lands back that were ours some long back. please advise Thanks in advance

You will need to check the revenue records to find out as on date who is reflected as the property owner. In case the tenant has recorded his name then you will need to file a petition before the appropriate authority to have your name on records. If it escalates into a dispute on the title to the property then you may have to move the civil court for declaration of the property in your name.
