Can daughters inherit ancestral properties

I recently saw a news on Supreme Court Order on ancestral property, Women can not inherit ancestral property if father died before 2005.My Queries, I am from Tamilnadu, 1) Is this applicable for all states ? 2) can't a women inherit ancestral property if father died before 2005 ? 3) What will be the share that women can get If the their father died before 2005 ?
The state of Tamil Nadu has own law effective from 1989 giving equal right to the daughters.
The Supreme court judgement is on deciding the date from which it should be given effect, The Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act, 2005 by the parliament.
Furthermore the amendment Act gives equal right to women in regions where women right to the property denied before the time.
