Can a Property Registration be done through a Power of Attorney

My apartment in Blr is getting ready around March 2017. My wife's is the application and I'm the co-applicant. I won't be available during the period in Karnataka (since I'm abroad). I wanted to know the procedure/charges to register the apartment. Some specific questions I have are:- Do both of us have to make a power of attorney or only my wife. Do I have to register the power of attorney in Blr What would be the complete charge for making the power of attorney in Blr. (I'm a Sikh)
As per your Query, 1st i want to understand whether you and your wife both are in abroad or not. If you are registering in your wife name then Co-applicant (you) General power of attorney is fine. the charges will be minimal. Thank You

The official charges for registration of are 5.56% stamp duty and 1% registration fee on the guidance value fixed by the government. this amount need to paid through demand drafts. you can execute a power of attorney in favour of your wife who will represent you in your absence. The said power of attorney can be prepared and executed by you from there only (abroad) in a plain paper and get the same attested preferably by Indian embassy of that country where you are at present, or by a Notary public of that Country and send the same to your wife to enable her to pay the proper stamp duty and get it adjudicated before the concerned district registrar of stamps in Karnataka.
