Agent took me to police as I purchased from owner directly
18-Dec-2023 (In Property Law)
Dear Experts, I saw a property 2/3 times through an agent. There were many other agents who discussed with me for this property. However I saw owner put advt. himself in 99 acres, so I called him and bought the flat. Now that Agent(who showed me the property) came to know that I bought the flat when I started living there. That agent started calling me every now and then. I never picked up his call. He took owner to police station and made him pay Half of the brokerage. He called me from Owner's cell and gave it to PSI in that police station. PSI called me to police station and asked me to pay the remaining half of the brokerage. I told PSI that I bought flat myself and made the whole deal myself. PSI threatened me that I would lose my IT job and put me in Jail. He also menaced that I will come to your company and arrest you in front of every one. So I agreed pay the amount and left police station. Agent told me that he will have to pay some cut to PSI as well. Please Help
Please file complaint to police against the broker for harassing you and also threatening through the police officer..
There is no law by which the broker can fo4ce you yo pay the brokerage.
Please appoint an advocate and fight against the harassment.

Dear Sir,
At outset, you are at moral fault for not paying the amount commission to the agent. However, without prejudice to said fact, as far as the legal position is concerned, you we advise you to go and check with the concerned police station if any such PSI is posted at it. From what you have mentioned, it appears case of impersonation, which is a criminal offence against which you can lodge a complaint. The dispute cited by you is a civil dispute and the police has no right to intervene in it. We believe that you have been threatened by taking advantage of your ignorance of law. Don't be afraid. You can't lose your job. We suggest to esquire with concerned police station about said PSI (you may also check online) and if no such PSI is posted at such police station, immediately file a criminal complaint against owner and broker.
