Insurance company refused to pay claim

My 3 month old car met with a heavy accident. It was not registered as yet. The insurance company refused the claim as the car was not registered. My argument is that the insurance is on the body of the car and not the number. I wish to go to consumer court

hi first need to see the policy details taken by you and its clauses and the eligbility clause in it and terms and conditions and if they are not clearing insurance then you could approach consumer forum
