Car Accident - Police demanded huge sum for compramise

on Oct 2023 while i'm on my way office a honda active guy came abruptly came before my car and there's a small accident in which he fell off his scooter. I got down my car, checked him thoroughly for any injuries after confirming he didn't sustain any and I said sorry(even though its not my mistake) and left the place. After a week of the incident police from that area called me and asked to come to police station stating the person filed a complaint. Police demanded huge sum to compromise but.

hi first need to see any FIR was registered against you and if yes then you could file quash petition in high court denying the allegations against you and that you were not connected to it and whether any claim petition was filed against under motor vehicle act
