“Funeral rally” held by Amrapali buyers

September 04, 2017

Amrapali homebuyer frustrated with the unnecessary delay of possessions in getting their dream home in which they have invested organised a funeral rally in Noida on Sunday. More than hundreds of homebuyer gathered to observe the funeral rally of the homes that were promised but never delivered.& quot Our patience has been tested. It is high time that the builder does something. Our dream has been shattered,& quot homebuyer Mannu Kumar said.

The protest by the Amrapali homebuyer against the builder has been going on for a month now, demanding they be given a fixed date for delivery of possession of flats.

Starting from Sector 62 in Noida, the protesters marched towards the stadium. MP Mahesh Sharma and former MLA Vimla Batham, who were present at the stadium, left as soon as the homebuyers started trooping in. The two were present at the stadium for the groundbreaking ceremony for Dussehra celebrations.

& quot The leaders present at the stadium vanished as soon as we reached. If ministers escape this way, who is going to assure us and hear our problems?& quot a buyer said.

Another buyer, Sumit Swaroop, said: & quot People have been on a hunger strike and no one is paying any attention. That is why, we decided to do something different to make our voices heard at a higher level, as builders are not interacting with us directly.& quot

Recently, the ruling government had set up a committee to listen to the grievances of homebuyers in Noida and Greater Noida. Swaroop, however, said: & quot Even though the committee has stated that co-developers will complete the projects soon, we have no idea when the work will start or when will we get our homes. Many questions have been left unanswered.& quot

Investor Hitesh Nakhashi told DNA that the protest will continue in front of the Amrapali office till their last breath. Echoing the sentiment, other buyers said they have already given their money to the developer, and now the time has come to give their lives as well.

& quot We have no other option left. We will fight against the politicians and the developers' lobby till our last breath,& quot buyers said.

As many as 8 FIRs were lodged against the Amrapali builders on Saturday.
