What to do as i am not able to fulfill my lock in period

23-Jun-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
Due to serious financial and personal issues, i was unable to fulfill the 11 months lock in period of my registered residential lease agreement. Now my highly connected landlord says that he will proceed with legal procrss against me. I have literally limited resources left. What should be my course of action and what harm can come to me?

This is my response to you:
1. There might be a clause wherein it may be state that you have to pay the rent of the remaining of lock-in period (11 months) to the lessor;
2. So you are definitely bound by it in legal terms;
3. The maximum the lessor can can send you a legal notice;
4. Then he can file a claim for the loss of rent agreed to be paid to him;
5. Although the court has pronounced that, aggrieved party is only entitled to get a compensation/ loss for damages valued by the court depending on the actual loss that the party has suffered due to such breach.

Without clarification about the clauses in you registered deed, I cannot suggest suitable remedy. Please also inform about the conditions of your lease so as to understand the background of your agreement

Try speaking with the landlord regarding your difficulty. in what way were you unable to fulfill the 11 months locking period. Incase if rent u have not deposited then you can tell the landlord to take the rent amount from the deposit.
