Tenant not paying rent
04-Oct-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
I had rented my flat in June 2016. The tenant had given the pdc's but had been bouncing since the very first month. He later gave us the cash for the month of June (I.e only 1 month). Later he promised to pay for two months and gave a fresh cheque of the same which has again bounced back. What legal action can be taken against him as we do not wish to continue with him now?
Dear querist,
First thing that you need to do is send legal notice to tenant stating the amount that is due to you and asking him to vacate premises
Secondly after sending legal notice and waiting for approx a month you can file suit in tenancy court for recovery of rent from tenant and eviction of tenant from suit premises.
Please note: all states have their tenancy laws so prevailing state tenancy law will be applicable.
