Tenant Background Verification

01-Apr-2025 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
I have recently rented out my flat in Kolkata. Property is in a standalone building and there is no registered association. Tenant and his family is known to me and I know their background very well. Is it mandatory as per law to intimate local police station for background check ? Since the family is well known to me, asking them for background check is uncomfortable for me. However, if it's mandatory, then I have to go ahead.

yes, it's mandatory to enter a tenancy agreement or leave and licensee agreement, where both parties documents are entitled to verify before the notary officer, and the notary officer put his/her seal over such agreement and documents. for any further discussion or queries please feel free to contact me.
