My hostel owner refused to refund my security depsoit

22-Nov-2024 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
I am a student and I was tricked by the owner to sign an e-stamp agreement that says that I will have to stay for 11 months. The condition of the hostel and food is very poor. When I asked him to refund my money or reduce the monthly payment without food, he started shouting and harrassing me. The GST number on the e-stamp agreement shows its status as cancelled suo-moto. The business was registered as goods and services of garments.

The agreement signed under coercion or misrepresentation is legally challengeable. Poor hostel conditions and the use of a cancelled GST number for a different purpose indicate breach of contract and fraud. You can file a police complaint for harassment and fraud and also challenge the agreement in a civil court to seek a refund or compensation. For further assistance, you can contact me.
