if it's covered under the WB Premises Tenancy act then after the death of the tenant the legal representative of the deceased tenant can continue upto 5 years as tenant thereafter he or she becomes illegal occupant. in such case it is possible for the landlord to initiate eviction proceeding against you but in case you have lived beyond that period and the landlord has accepted rent from you then implied tenancy will ensue. kinda seek legal opinion about the next course of action depending on where exactly your case lies.

Your query is a statement and do not bear any legal question. However, please appreciate the fact that the landlord is the owner of the property and in case your grandfather has died, it's his/her prerogative to extend the agreement with a new holder with new terms and condition. It will be better if you can resolve through effective negotiation points.
