Landlord demanding compensation after 2.5 months vacating the house.
05-Nov-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
Hi My previous landlord after 2.5 months of vacating the flat is suddenyl asking for compensation on grounds of cleanliness and removal of hooks from some walls. His mother had already inspected flat during emptying the flat and he charged 1000 for cleanliness. Deducting that he returned security deposit. He also said AC and geyser not working even though i showed them in working condition to his mother. he spoke to his mother and transferred deposit back then. Now what grounds does he have to suddenly after 2.5 months ask me for money on grounds of kitchen cleanliness etc. I had spent enough in the flat for repair of electonics and cleaning while in the flat itself. Is there any ground for him to go legal in this case?
Dear Querist, if you have recieved the amount of security deposit back than you need not worry as it is implied that the house has been returned with due satisfaction. If any notice is recieved or suit is filed than you need to appropriately reply with the aforesaid contention and raising other points
Dear Sir / Madam
Is there any clause of Locking period in your agreement?
Is your Leave and License is registered?
In general once lease is terminated and Securiry deposit is given back, Owner do not have any right for demanding compensation as it was already settled by you as per your statement.
Still if he is giving trouble, send him letter by Speedpost, stating facts and preserve record.
For more details I need your agreement copy
Best Luck
