Brokerage issue + intimidation, threats from broker

12-Jun-2026 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
I rented a flat in Noida. A broker showed me the property, but the owner had independently advertised it with their number displayed outside. I later finalized directly with the owner without any signed brokerage agreement or explicit promise to pay. The broker now demands one month's rent and has repeatedly called, visited my house, and sent audio threats saying he will keep returning with other brokers. I need advice on liability and police complaint. Please respond asap.

When you already have directly finalised the lease with the owner itself, the broker has no locus to receive any amount of money from you. the Brokers further actions seems to be illegal and you have complete right to refuse him any payment. if there is credible threat of safety against your person and property, you must immediately take action and inform the police. get in touch with an experienced advocate and have a detailed discussion pertaining your issue. good luck.
