US Citizen Visa Issues. Juna Akhara Sadhu, Spiritual Visa? Or medical?

06-Aug-2025 (In Immigration Law)
I spent 183 days in India in 2025 on tourist e-visa (over 180-day limit, misunderstood rule). FRRO at Delhi airport issued exit permit for overstay. Applied for new e-visa—rejected after 1 week. Then applied for regular tourist visa in Kathmandu. After 1 month, not rejected but told by phone “cannot issue approval,” advised to apply for medical e-visa or at US embassy. Portal still shows “Under Processing.” My SOP states I’ll register with FRRO on return.

Overstaying the 180-day limit on an e-visa often leads to future visa complications, even if unintentional. Since an exit permit was issued and your visa application remains pending or was verbally declined, Indian immigration authorities may have flagged your record. A fresh e-visa approval may require diplomatic intervention or stronger justification (like a medical emergency). Consider applying for a medical visa through the Indian embassy in the US with all supporting documentation, including proof of intent to comply (such as your SOP and FRRO registration promise). I can assist further with a tailored visa representation strategy based on your specific facts.
