Police verification of passport.
10-Apr-2025 (In Immigration Law)
My application got stuck because the police said, "Applicant lives on rent on the given address and does not have any native place ID.
However, I have been living in Delhi since birth, and all my IDs have Delhi's address. My parents belong to Bihar, and I have their native IDs as well, but there are name discrepancies in my father's name. What should be done in this case?
Will same same-name affidavit be acceptable at the passport office? Please suggest on this.
In your case, since your application got stuck due to lack of a native place ID and discrepancies in your father's name, you can proceed with two steps: (1) Prepare a same-name affidavit for your father clarifying the discrepancies—this is generally acceptable at the passport office. (2) Submit a rent agreement, residence proof, and self-declaration regarding your current Delhi address along with supporting documents (like Aadhaar, voter ID, etc.) to establish long-term residence. If police verification still raises objections, you may file a representation with the Regional Passport Office along with your documents and affidavit. It is advisable to consult an advocate if objections persist.
