In general, an inter-caste marriage is one where a person belonging to a particular caste marries another of a different caste. Here, religion does not matter. If you both belong to two different castes, your marriage is inter-caste.

The higher caste of man marrying lowyer caste of women or higher caste of woman marrying lowyer caste of man is called the intercaste marraige generally. The method of constitution of marriage of the parties to marraige must also be different in different religion to conform the intercalated marraige.
