We want to know if we can get married under the Hindu marriage act

Me and my boyfriend recently discovered that his paternal grandmother (dadi) is my maternal grandmother's (nani) maternal uncle's (mama) daughter, so basically they are first cousins which makes us 3rd cousins, we want to get married but we are worried if we can or not, our families don't know yet, we are Jat, we don't know what to do

generally marriage between cousins are prohibited sapinda under the Hindu marriage act see degrees of prohibited relationship I'll tell you how to conduct yourself in such a situation you are jats right

हिंदू मैरिज एक्ट के अनुसार, एक लड़का या लड़की अपनी मां की तरफ से तीन पीढ़ियों और पापा की तरफ से पांच पीढ़ियों तक के किसी रिश्तेदार से शादी नहीं कर सकते हैं. यानी नाना-परनाना, दादा-परदादा और उनके भी दादा के किसी रिश्तेदार से शादी करने पर पाबंदी है
