my wife has gone to her parents' home for 16 months and is not returning, what should we do?
as per hindu marriage act husband and wife both has right to file the section 9 application in trial court , where both party can demand the restoration of marriage. if any party has not saficiant ground why they are living sepratly then court has right to order for restoration of marriage.

Please serve her a legal notice, if she doesn't reply then you may file a case u/s 9 of the Hindu Marriage Act for the restitution of conjugal rights, if she turns up then she will have to respond, otherwise the court will pass an exparte order in your favour, after which you will be able to file the petition of divorce.
