Regarding Addition of name in my community directory
01-Jun-2025 (In Family Law)
Sir/Madam,
My community is not adding my name in their local directory inspite of my request many number of times, I was first M.S and B.E graduate in my locality (2000-2005) and to go to US for higher education and work, and after my return to India in 2012 I wasn't given any recognition. I was given tough time everywhere.
Please let me know how to let them add my name in their local community directory legally and to find the reason.
S.Gunasekar Advocate Answer.
To address this legally:
1. Send a Formal Written Request: Submit a registered letter or email to the community head/association requesting inclusion and asking for reasons for denial.
2. RTI (if applicable): If the community directory is managed by a public body or registered trust, file a Right to Information (RTI) application to get official reasons.
3. Legal Notice: Through a lawyer, send a legal notice demanding inclusion and citing discrimination if applicable.
4. Approach Court: If still denied, file a writ petition in High Court for violation of your fundamental rights (equality and dignity).
Optional: You can also file a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission if you face social discrimination.
Let me know your state if you need specific contacts.
