In India, legal separation from parents is not a standalone concept, but can occur in certain circumstances. This can include abuse, neglect, abandonment, divorce, or legal disputes. Options for separation Emancipation Minors can seek emancipation from parents through court if they are experiencing abuse, neglect, or financial independence. Moving out Adults can establish financial independence and move out to live independently. Parental responsibility In India, parental responsibility ends when a child turns 18 years old. Parental responsibility also ends if a child gets married or enters into a registered partnership before 18 years. Parents no longer have legal authority over their child's decisions after they turn 18.
