Intercaste marriage between OC and OBC, what would be child caste?

15-Dec-2023 (In Family Law)
The candidate is 23 yrs old. His parents had inter-caste marriage (between OC & OBC). Based of GO by Govt of TN in 1975, Child born out from such marriage can choose either of the parent's caste. And the family did not have the knowledge about this GO and they continued to have their son's caste as OC(father's caste). But the son has been brought up in OBC environment with father being away from home due to work environment. Can he/she now claim the OBC status at the ae of 23?

HELLO, FATHER’S SOCIAL STATUS ONLY DEVOLVES ON CHILDREN BORN OUT OF SUCH INTER CASTE MARRIAGE. THERE IS NO SUCH GO THAT CHILDREN BORN OUT OF SUCH MARRIAGE CANNOT CHOOSE ANY SOCIAL STATUS THEY LIKE.
